The Morning Orchestra at Nokia World

YouTube Preview Image

What an exciting week it is! 2 full days of Nokia World for a hands-on experience of the latest Nokia tech that will be making waves in the year to come, and a chance to be a part of something else truly dear to my heart as we work with City Showcase to put on performances from 8 emerging artists in the world of music.

Now, you may not know City Showcase, but the non-profit organisation is responsible for launching the likes of Amy Winehouse, N-Dubz and Razorlight to name but so very few. With a track record like that, it’s no surprise they’ve secured 8 different but equally amazing acts for the 2 day event.

But the performances from these rising stars won’t be reserved for the conference attendees alone, as I’ll be on hand to film each of their performances on a Nokia N8 for the world to see… and that’s where YOU come in. We want you to vote on these videos by ‘liking’ them. You can leave a comment on each video post if you want to fulfil your “I’m a music mogul” fantasy too.

The most popular band/artist, as “liked” by you, will win some Nokia swag and get promoted on Ovi Music. Which everyone knows, are the two most important steps to fame, fortune, adulation and global dominance. Ahem.

Liverpool Sound City

DMB had three artistes play at Liverpool Sound City this year, The Boy Done Good (for the second year) Vandeville Falls and Will Kevans. LSC is a great opportunity to catch some great emerging bands in the evening and  industry panels offering their opinions during the day in a wonderfully friendly city.

City Showcase London

Dawson Breed Music is delighted to be helping out at  City Showcase London again this year. City Showcase, London’s leading festival for new music, takes place annually, this year from 5-9 May 2010. City Showcase provides public exposure, advice and mentoring, plus the crucial contacts that aspiring talent needs.  It culminates in a series of live events in venues across London giving musicians the opportunity to perform in West End stores and legendary venues such as The Borderline, the 100 Club and The Apple Store on Regents Street and in 2010 it extends to The O2 with The British Music Experience, supported by AEG Live, and to Lewisham (City Showcase: Rocklands) as well as the first ever City Showcase: Roots & Flutes festival on the 9th of May 2010 at The O2.

At The Apple Store on Regents Street, gigs and industry workshops will include Vandeville Falls, Andrew Davie, Patch William, Polly MacKay and The Pleasure Principle, Jess Morgan and Tony Christie, Lynsey de Paul and Hal Ritson. Pop down and say hello as that’s where we’ll be!

Established as a key date for music lovers and industry talent spotters, City Showcase is a rare opportunity to see tomorrow’s future stars.

Unless otherwise stated access to all festival events is by wristband:  The cost of a wristband is just £5 from www.cityshowcase.co.uk.  Wristband holders will also receive discounts at gigs as listed and enjoy discounts at participating shops, cafes, restaurants and bars in Regent Street, Carnaby Street and at The O2.

ILMC

Dawson Breed Music attended the International Live Music Conference again this year meeting up with old and new friends and listening and discussing the future of the music business and the constant changes within it. There were some very entertaining panels as usual and interesting debates. Kicking off on Thursday March 11th with a production meeting discussing and sharing production issues such as weather conditions, staging and technical expectations  relevant for all those working on live production. Very useful for Bearded Theory Festival the festival we work closely with.

Gibson Guitar Showroom Showcase

Esoterica

Esoterica and The Boy Done Good at The Gibson Guitar Showroom showcase in London on June 23rd 2009 performed to a music industry only audience of promoters, indie labels, publishers, PR, press, TV & Radio. Despite the extreme heat, not just in temperature, both bands gave a fantastic performance. Noostar were there to film it too, check out their website, it’s the online talent show, and The Boy Done Good are still holding the No1 position!
